This two-day practical event will introduce delegates to the key principles and best practices of reports and data visualisations with Power BI Desktop. Delegates will appreciate what makes good, and bad, representation of data. Throughout the event, delegates will learn how to use the most appropriate visuals for their audience.
This course focuses on the best practice of Power BI reports / dashboards and the course is taught using examples and labs in Power BI desktop

Delegates should have experience in creating reports with Power BI Desktop.

Dashboard overview
This module examines what defines a dashboard, and students will consider the design of a series of dashboards to evaluate what they do well and what they do poorly.
Common mistakes
This module examines the common mistakes made by dashboard developers, and how by understanding these issues they can be avoided in the future.
Formatting
This module explores the ways in which we read dashboards, and how the positioning and formatting of elements can influence how they are interpreted.
Colours
This module focuses on the use of colour in dashboards, and how the choice made by the designer can cause issues for the users of the dashboards they create.
Typography
This module considers aspects of typography within dashboards, and the importance of choosing suitable fonts.
Visual selection
This module explores different visuals which can be used, and when each could be considered as a valid option when creating dashboards.
