In addition to their professional experience, students who attend this training should already have the following technical knowledge:

- This module introduces the main terms and concepts used within the administration of SQL Server instances and discusses the features of SQL architecture.
SQL Server Installation
- This module examines installing a SQL instance (default or named), selecting the services required, and reviewing installation options. The lessons covered include the considerations for installation, configuration of the tempdb database, default file locations, unattended installation using the GUI or command line, and upgrading SQL Server instances.
Working with SQL Databases
- This module covers data storage in SQL and the processes involved in creating and managing databases, including an introduction to the concepts of data integrity and indexes.
Backup and Restore SQL Databases
- This module covers all aspects of backing up and restoring databases.
SQL Server Authentication
- This module covers the setup and maintenance of logins and users, at both the instance and database levels, along with linked server authentication.
Server and Database Roles
- This module covers the creation and maintenance of security roles at the server and database level.
Database Object Security
- This module covers security for objects at the database level, such as tables, views, stored procedures, and functions.
Data Security
- This module covers additional methods of securing data, such as row and column security, data masking, auditing, and encryption.
Automating SQL Server management
- This module covers the automation of administration with the SQL Server instance.
Exams and assessments
There are no formal exams included in this course. Participants will complete interactive labs and knowledge checks to reinforce learning outcomes.
